June 9th, 2011-6:30pm-Endowment session- Trina Parkinson would appreciate help in fulfilling the work for about 60 family members. She will have the names at the Temple Office for you to pick up (across the lobby from the clothing rental) whether you come on this date or any other date. After the session, you will pick up the name card in the dressing room and return it to the Temple Office for Trina to pick up. Thank you and we hope to see you at the temple!

Recipes

At the RS activity a couple of weeks ago, Amy and Julia taught a cooking class using oats and other food storage items. Here are the recipes for those that wanted them and for others that didn't get to come that night.

Granola
14 cups oats
1 cup oil
1 cup honey
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup water
1 tsp vanilla
2 tsp salt

Mix all other ingredients above and then stir into the oats till thoroughly coated. Spread oat mixture on two cookie sheets (that have been sprayed with cooking spray). Bake at 225 for 2 hours. After the first hour, rotate pans so they each get a turn being on top and on bottom so it gets cooked evenly. Let cool and then add the following ingredients, or anything else you think would taste good!

1 cup raisins
1 cup craisins
1 cup pecans
1 cup chopped almonds
1 cup sliced almonds

Peanut Butter Brownies
-Julia Whitehead
I like this recipe because both oats and peanut butter are commonly stored at home in bulk. Yield: 24, but can be doubled and made in a cookie sheet to serve a larger group.

For Dough:
½ C. margarine ½ tsp. vanilla
½ C. white sugar 1 C. flour
½ C. brown sugar ½ tsp. baking soda
1 egg 1 C. oats
1/3 C. peanut butter

On Top:
1 C. chocolate chips ¼ C. peanut butter
1/2 C. powdered sugar *About half of a (14 oz) can sweetened condensed milk

*Note- Evaporated or regular milk may also be used but will change the sweetness and consistency of icing. Experiment with powdered sugar/ milk amounts to find desired thickness.
Cream first 3 ingredients. Add remaining dough ingredients in order. With wet hands, spread into greased 9x13 pan. Bake 13-15 min. at 350. Remove from oven and immediately sprinkle chocolate chips on top. Return to oven for 1 min. or less. When melted, spread evenly. Cool. Ice (or drizzle) with icing.
