Visiting Teaching Moment

The importance of Vting was instilled in me at a young age, because of
my wonderful mother.  When I graduated from HS, I lived at home for a
year and was serving in the primary.  I was asked by the RS President
to be a VTer, and I was a little nervous, since I wasn't in relief
society much, and I was scared to visit sisters so much older than I.
But my first experience with visiting teaching turned out to be such a
great blessing.  I was put with my mom as my visiting teaching
companion.  She taught me what it was like to visit, talk, teach, and
listen to these sweet sisters in our ward.  She taught me first hand
what it means to be a faithful visiting teacher.  I also cherish that
time that I had with my mom doing something spiritual that impacted my
life.

I am not always the greatest visiting teacher, and I am not always
the most spiritual person at the visit, but I learned from my mom that
visiting teaching isn't always about being the best or the "perfect"
teacher.  It is about love and friendship and caring, and doing your
best.

Now that I am older and have been a visiting teacher for years, I
see how important the visiting teaching program is, not only in  my
own life, but in the lives of every sister in the ward.    Some of my
wonderful visiting teachers, or the ladies that I have visited have
turned out to be some of my best friends in the world.  People that I
may not have gotten to know otherwise have been the greatest
influences on me through this divine program.  They were there for me
when I had my babies, when I needed support n my callings, when I
moved away from family, and so on and so on.

I have a strong testimony of the Relief Society program and visiting
teaching.  Everyone deserves to feel needed and loved, and we as
sisters can do that for others.  I am grateful for the gospel and for
the blessings that come with being a sister in Zion.  I pray that we
will all be able to recognize a need and fill a need for those that we
serve.

Relief Society Soup & Salad Nights

Sisters, we have just hit our two year mark of doing soup and salad
night to celebrate your birthdays each month.  It has been so much
fun, and we have loved getting to know each of you better.  As a
presidency, we have decided that it is time to focus our time and
attention on other things, so we will no longer be doing our monthly
dinner.   We wanted to thank you for your time, dedication, and
support to each of our soup and salad nights.  You all are wonderful
and we love each and every one of you.  Thanks again!
